It will be like sleeping
she had said to me.
The night was still,
as if it was holding its breath,
and all the stars seemed to vanish from the sky;
each of them choosing to seek residence in her eyes.
And as they fell down her cheeks,
and I felt the supernova crush my heart.
We had once put up our dreams in our eyes;
her with a brave heart,
and I, with cowardice.
She had loved me loudly and I, in silence.
She loved the rain
and in silence, I did too;
And with every rain that I refused to love out loud,
her bright smiles dimmed,
and her laughter subsided.
With every gesture that I refused to acknowledge,
her stars fell.
And the climax came with a force that surpassed anything else.
And finally,
finally, as I begged her to live,
to just give me one moment
she gave me the softest of her smiles.
One last time as she closed her eyes,
she whispered,
it'll be like sleeping.
