Hamro Laghukatha Kendra honours writers

By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, May 4: Hamro Laghukatha Kendra (Our Short Story Centre), Dakshinkali-3, Kathmandu, has awarded and honoured various short story writers.

At the awards and book launch ceremony organised by the centre, writer Mahesh Prasai was presented with the 'Centre Short Story Award' along with Rs. 11,111, and Prof. Dr. Kapil Lamichhane received the "Centre Criticism Award," also accompanied by Rs. 11,111. Similarly, creator Ganga Karmacharya Poudel was awarded the "Centre Short Story Women Award," worth Rs. 5,555, and Ramendra Koirala received the 'Yognath Bastola Short Story Award,' also worth Rs. 5,555. 

Mohan Basnet, Mayor of Dakshinkali Municipality, presented the awards and honours to the creators and expressed the view that such literary activities would enhance the reputation of the municipality.

At the programme, Deputy Mayor Basanti Tamang Dangol informed that work on the Dakshinkali Pragya Academy is progressing and expressed the view that the literary atmosphere will become even more vibrant, making it easier for creators to carry out such activities.The atmosphere of the programme became joyful with the performance of Dhime Baja by Ganesh Guthi Dhime Khala and Vedic recitations by Shree Brahmananda Saraswati Vedic Gurukul.

Dr. Shekhar Shrestha, Chairman of Hamro Laghukatha Kendra, informed that the centre has also launched "Our Joint Short Story Collection," which includes short stories written by life members of the centre as well as students who participated in the district-wide short story competition organised in 2024.The book was jointly released by Deputy Mayor Basanti Tamang Dangol, along with writers Krishna Pradhan, Kishore Pahadi, Jaydev Bhattarai, and others.

Prachanda Man Singh, Ward Chairman of Dakshinkali Municipality Ward No. 3, Ram Kumar Basnet, Headmaster of Seti Devi Secondary School, writer Krishna Pradhan, and others expressed their best wishes to the award-winning writers.
