Kathmandu, May 4: Minister for Education, Science and Technology Sasmit Pokhrel has said that collaboration between the three layers of government was needed for overall reforms in the education sector.
At a meeting with the stakeholders at the Ministry on Monday, Minister Pokhrel said that several issues of the education sector will be resolved if the local government takes its leadership and pledged to cooperate with the local levels to that end.
The Minister, who is also the government spokesperson, urged to make the scholarship distribution system more transparent adding that the Ministry has received complaints on the fees determination and scholarship.
Mayor of Lalitpur Metropolitan City Chiribabu Maharjan, Acting Mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan City Sunita Dangol, Chairman of Municipality Association of Nepal Bhim Prasad Dhungana and Chairperson of National Association of Rural Municipalities Laxmi Devi Pandey, among others were present at the meeting.
Likewise, Minister Pokhrel held a meeting with Norwegian Ambassador to Nepal Dagny Mjøs to discuss the issues of Nepal-Norway cooperation and partnership in the areas of Nepal's education, science and technology, and sports.(RSS)
