Elderly man dies in attack by wild elephant

Jhapa, Feb 27: An elderly man died today after coming into an attack by a wild elephant.

The deceased has been identified as 76-year-old Bhim Prasad Bhattarai of Haldibari Rural Municipality-4, according to Megh Raj Rai, Chief of the Division Forest Office, Jhapa.     

Bhattarai had gone to the Haldibari Community Forest when he was attacked and killed by the elephant. The body of the deceased has been sent to the Provincial Hospital, Bhadrapur for a post-mortem.     

Meanwhile, two people died in motorcycle accidents in different places here today.     

The deceased have been identified as 17-year-old Suraj Rajbanshi of Shivasatakshi Municipality-4 and 19-year-old Govinda Rajbanshi of Kachankawal Rural Municipality-3, according to the police.     

Amit Raja,18, a resident of the same ward, who was riding the same motorcycle, was injured and is undergoing treatment at B&C Hospital, according to the police.(RSS)
