Dr Bhattarai sworn in as Chair of NSP (Naya Shakti)

Kathmandu, Feb 13: The newly-elected chairman, office-bearers and the executive committee members of the Nepal Socialist Party (Naya Shakti) were sworn in this evening.     

Dr Baburam Bhattarai was elected the chairman of the NSP (Naya Shakti) from the party's general convention by securing 761 votes. Another contestant Netra Chapagain got 73 votes.     

Newly-elected chairman Dr Bhattarai received oath from the election officer while Chairman Dr Bhattarai administered oath to the office-bearers and executive committee members.     

The announcement of the office-bearers was made at a news conference at the Nepal Academy.     

Ishwar Rijal (under the Khas Arya category), Tek Bahadur Bathamagar (indigenous), Umesh Sah (Madhesi), Manushi Yami Bhattarai (women) and Durga Sob (dalit) were elected the vice-chairs while Sonamsingh Syangtan made to the post of general secretary.     

Likewise, Asha Kumar Tamang, Laxman Karki and Bharat Raj Dahal were elected the secretaries and Hari Prasad Rijal as the treasurer.     

Elected from the first general convention, Dr Bhattarai said that his party would begin the fresh campaign of people's revolution.     

Dr Bhattarai said that the first central committee meeting of the party has been summoned for February 23 in Kathmandu.(RSS)
