blog

By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Jan. 9: Tribhuvan Army Club (TAC) suffered both ups and downs at the ANFA Complex Ground in Satdobato, Lalitpur, on Wednesday when their teams played two separate games, one in the ANFA Women's League and the other in the ANFA U-16 League.

Of the three games that the ANFA Complex Ground has been hosting on a daily basis recently, two of U16 League games are followed by a Women’s League game.

In the first game of January 8, APF registered their first win in the league defeating Satdobato Youth Club by 2-1. Abinash Waiba and Tenzing Sherpa were the scorers for APF while Satdobato got their first win thanks to an own goal by APF's Biken Khatri in the 41st minute.

Then, the next two games featured Army’s teams. And TAC suffered a devastating defeat with the young team while they made a comeback win in the Women’s League.

TAC lost by 10-0 to Three Star Club in the U16 League and replied with a dozen to nil when the women’s team competed against Waling Municipality later.

Bhupendra Bahadur Rawat opened the goal tally in the 10th minute for Three Star. By the end of the first half, Dzongshen Khencho Kazi and Puran Shrestha made it 3-0 with an individual goal in the 23rd and 44th minutes.

Leading comfortably, Three Star's head coach Binod Majhi made three changes at the start of the second half. And the goal counting that was suspended after the first half resumed with Shrestha scoring his second in the 66th minute.

From 4-0, Rohan Bomjan and Shrijan Shrestha, both with an individual hat-trick, made it 10-0. However, none of the Army players replied with any consolation goal.

On the other hand, Army equalled points with the departmental opponents – Nepal Police Club and APF Club – with a win over Waling. Army now has six points from three games, similar to that of Police; APF, the defending champion, also has six points, but from two games.

In the 12-0 win, Army’s Bimala Chaudhary, player of the match, was in the lead with four goals and Chandra Bhandari joined her as the other player with a hat-trick.

Sapana Lama and Anjana Thulung Rai scored two each while Bimala BK scored the last goal in the 89th minute.

Chandra scored the first for Army in the 23rd minute. She completed her hat-trick after scoring in the 31st and 69th minutes. Chaudhary, who scored her first in the 34th and made it 4-0, completed her hattrick with goals in 48th and 60th minutes; her fourth came from a penalty kick in the 79th. Anjana, who came in the field as a substitute after the first half, scored two goals in 56th and 70th minutes.

The game between Khumaltar and Machhindra will open the match day on Thursday and it will be followed by Sankata vs Friends Club in the U16 League. The ANFA Women’s League will see a departmental derby – APF vs Nepal Police – later in the day.
