Ambulance hit kills two of same family

Nepalgunj, April 15: Two members of a same family died after being hit by an ambulance in Bardiya district this morning.

The deceased have been identified as Bhumi Lamichhane, 55, of Gulariya Municipality-55 and his around seven-year-old grandson Rihan, according to Superintendent of Police, Saroj Poudel.

The accident took place at Gulariya Municipality-7 when the ambulance (Lumbini Province BAA 0305) heading towards Rajaur of Bardiya from Kohalpur, Banke hit them. Lamichhane, a yoga teacher, was heading towards yoga camp, said police.

Similarly, Sita, 50, wife of Lamichhane, and Surya Upadhyay, 66, were injured in the incident. They are undergoing treatment at Nepalgunj Nursing Home. 

Police have arrested the ambulance driver and impounded the vehicle. Investigation into the incident is underway, said Prakash Singh Karki, Police Inspector at District Police Office, Bardiya.(RSS)
