By Yadu Prasad Bhatt,Manang, Dec. 13: The Besishahar–Chame road section is all set to undergo significant upgrades following consultations with local stakeholders and people’s representatives from Naso Rural Municipality.
The decision aims to improve accessibility and address challenges faced by large vehicles plying along the road.
Lawmaker Tek Bahadur Gurung, along with representatives from the Manang Marsyangdi Hydropower Company, and local leaders, agreed to construct a six-metre-wide road after a thorough discussion.
Naso Rural Municipality-5 ward chair Thuten Lama highlighted that varying road widths, four metres in some areas and six metres in others, were creating difficulties for large vehicles, prompting an agreement to construct roads with a minimum width of 6 metres in the narrower sections.
MP Gurung also inspected the under-construction motor road from Khatro to Nachay and directed stakeholders to complete the project within the stipulated timeline.
Similarly, he conducted a field visit to the Bagarchhap-Ghalyanchowk motor road, emphasising adherence to standards and timely completion of development projects.
Regarding the Dharapani-Bhimtang motor road, MP Gurung expressed his commitment to expediting the completion of the motor road under construction from Dharapani to Bhimthang by engaging in discussions with locals, the Road Division Office, the Lamjung team and people's representatives.
He expressed dissatisfaction over the delays in the construction of the Dudhkhola bridge, committing to address the issue with government officials and the construction company.
Lawmaker Gurung also shared progress on hydropower projects in Manang, stating that while the district has the potential to generate 600 MW of electricity, the 135 MW Manang Marsyangdi Hydropower Project has already commenced.
He mentioned that the construction team has begun upgrading and widening 50 kilometres of road between Khudi in Lamjung and Koto in Manang, ensuring safer travel for locals and tourists.
As the hydropower project advances, MP Gurung emphasised the opportunities for thousands of locals to secure jobs and benefit from developmental support.
He urged the community to avoid obstructing the projects and to cooperate with construction companies to facilitate smooth operations.
