Cancer treatment centre to be built in Kohalpur

BY OUR CORRESPONDENT,Nepalgunj, Sept. 15: A new cancer treatment building is being constructed at Nepalgunj Medical College Teaching Hospital premises in Kohalpur with an investment of Rs. 1 billion. 

The medical college laid the foundation stone for the building following the land puja on Friday. Following it, the construction work commenced on Saturday. 

On the occasion, Kumar Prasad Aryal, the director of the medical college, said that the new building would facilitate high-quality cancer treatment in Banke. The hospital is committed to providing the highest quality and effective services from the building, which is expected to be the finest medical facility in western Nepal, he said. 

"Currently, we are providing cancer-related services at the Teaching Hospital Kohalpur. We will now offer specialised services from the dedicated building," said Aryal.

According to Nepalgunj Medical College, the construction is expected to be completed within two years, after which patient services will be provided.

Shyam Kumar Sharma, Deputy Director of Lord Buddha Educational Academy, said it was the first time a fully equipped ‘cancer hospital’ was being constructed in western Nepal from the private sector. He said specialised cardiovascular services and catheterisation lab services would begin at the Nepalgunj Teaching Hospital next month.
