Indra Jatra pole brought to Hanumandhoka; main festival to be celebrated on Sept. 17

By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Sept. 12: The Yosin or Lingo, a ceremonial wooden pole brought for Indra Jatra entered the city from Bhotahiti towards Hanumandhoka at 10.32 am on Wednesday. 

It has been taken to Kalabhairav of Hanumanddhoka.   

Indra Jatra will begin after erecting the pole with the banner of Indra on Sunday. Erecting of the lingo will take place at an auspicious time at 8.26 am on September 15. 

The leaders of the Manandhar community left Hanumandhokha for the Nala forest with Gurju’s platoon at 10.47 am on September 5.   

On the same day, the tree was cut at 8.27 pm after performing a worship. The trustees had started pulling the Lingo from the next morning. It was brought to Bhotahiti on the same day on September 6. 

It is customary to perform worship to welcome Yosin before it reaches Bhotahiti.

The main festival of Indra Jatra falls on September 17 this year.
