Horse dance performed in Beni

By Our Correspondent,Beni, Aug. 17: The youth of the Newar community have performed a Horse Dance in Beni. 

The Horse Dance is part of Newari art and culture and was showcased as part of the Barkhe Dance, which began on the day of Nagpanchami.

 Jenesh Shrestha, president of Lyamha: Pucha, said that the Horse Dance was performed by Newari youth associated with Nepal Bhasha Manka: Khal under Lyamha: Pucha.

In the Horse Dance, one person acts as a horse, while another plays the role of a shepherd, both performing to the rhythm of the music.

 People gathered to watch the dance as passed through the market.

The President of Lyamha: Pucha further added that they would continue to showcase various dances, including Saparu, Naganagini Dance, Gaijatra, Shree Krishna Chariot Procession, and Jogi Dance, up until Haritalika Teej, the most significant festival of Nepali women.
