By A Staff Reporter, Kathmandu, Apr. 23: Chinese artistes have enthralled Nepali audience with melodious songs and dazzling dances. They performed under the theme of 'voices of spring – travelling across Inner Mongolia with songs' at a function in Kathmandu Tuesday.

Clad in traditional attires, the artistes from Inner Mongolia introduced audience to culture, beauty and nature of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region through enchanting moves, colours and sounds.

They presented a variety of native dances. Some of them included 'song of praise', 'ode to the nomads', 'the handsome young man', 'fragrance across thousands of miles', 'racing horses', 'jasmine flower'  and 'horse of wind'.

'Song of praise' presents a captivating fusion of Mongolian long-tune Khoomei and Mongolian dance, reflecting the spirit of new generation.  In 'Ode to the nomads,' they employed rich and resonant technique of multi-phonic throat, capturing the heroic feelings of the nomadic people.

In their final performance, they crooned popular Nepali folk song – Resham Firiri (when the silk cotton tree blooms). Both Chinese and Nepali audience enjoyed the Nepali song and music.

Senior officials from the Department of Culture and Tourism of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region said that the cultural programme acted as a bridge between the two peoples and nations as they were connected by geography, culture and tourism.
