blog

By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Apr. 22: Nepali poet and translator Chandra Gurung has brought out a Hindi translation of 'Pillow Secrets,' a collection of 50 tankas originally composed by Spanish-language poet Norma Gonzalez Peralta.

Brought out by Bukant Publication, Siliguri, India, the collection, titled 'Takiyeke Rahasya,' delicately navigates the emotional terrains of love and heartbreak, capturing a spectrum of nuanced feelings.

Through her evocative verse, the poet embraces silence and solitude as intimate companions, weaving deeply personal reflections that she metaphorically entrusts to her pillow.

The 72-page volume is dedicated to the poet’s parents, Maria Esperanza and Jose Maria.

It also features a thoughtful preface by noted Hindi poet and critic Shahanshah, who contextualises the work within a broader literary and cultural framework.

According to the publisher, Book Ant, the translation marks a significant contribution to cross-cultural literary exchange, making Spanish-language poetry more accessible to Hindi readers.

Born in Argentina, the poet has enjoyed a distinguished academic and literary career. She has taught at both secondary schools and universities, and has made notable contributions to the study of Spanish and American literature.

Translator Gurung, a prolific literary figure, has authored several poetry books in multiple languages. In addition, he has translated numerous poetry books into Nepali and Hindi, further enriching the literary landscape.
