Butterfly Homes was founded in 2005 by CNN Hero of the Year 2012 Pushpa Basnet, and it has fulfilled its mission ever since. This place, which over 20 kids have made their "home," offers everything a young child could possibly require for development.
Since its founding, this charity has provided a safe haven for kids whose parents are imprisoned and unable to support them. I have to admit that after spending nearly every day for two months here teaching, caring for, and engaging the kids, I can honestly declare that this place is an absolute paradise.
During my stay here, I had the opportunity to teach the kids a great deal of things and learn a lot of new things myself. The kids here are really welcoming. They are really appreciative of the assets and chances they have.
Even though the majority of children are extremely young, they are aware of their environment and how to behave accordingly. The children understand how fortunate they are to live in a place that offers them food, safety, and proper learning opportunities. Every activity I got them involved in was met with appropriate enthusiasm from them.
They are appreciative of what they have, even if they are aware that they have to stay away from their parents.
This is shown by the gesture of them praying before they eat every meal and thanking everyone around them. Additionally, the staff are very kind here.
They take care of the children all day long, treating them like their own so that they can feel what it's like to be a family. To be really honest, this foundation's whole membership, together with the kids, treats one another as members of a large family.
They treat each and every one of their new members as if they were one big family. In addition, spending time with the kids and the staff here gave me a sense of belonging to this never-ending family.
I was really anxious on my first day here, but as soon as I started interacting with the kids, I felt completely at ease and began to enjoy their company. I had the opportunity to observe how the kids are raised here throughout my visits.
The kids seemed content in the setting as long as the professionals provided them with the right direction. Additionally, they had a place to play and study provided for them. The children received weekly counselling sessions in addition to training in dance and taekwondo in this favourable environment.
These kinds of classes were giving students the right physical training in addition to aiding in their character development. For these kids, this facility has evolved into both a place to call home and a place where they can sculpt their future.
Fulfilling her motto, Pushpa Basnet still thrives to save more girls and their lives and make it better by providing them with their new home—the butterfly homes. Spending my break here, I discovered exactly how difficult life can be at times and how important it is to learn how to adapt to every new environment that comes along.
The kids taught me how to be content in an environment very different from their childhood home and how to seize opportunities even in the face of adversity. The fact that the children are content with their lives and feel thankful for having earned them is what matters most to them in this place. From an early age, they demonstrate obedience and responsibility by helping with nearly all of the foundation's tasks.
Furthermore, I am very delighted to have had the opportunity to spend these wholesome days in this place with these keen-minded and amazing children and to have had the opportunity to serve my knowledge to these inquisitive young minds.
