By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Aug. 5: As ‘Gaijatra’ is approaching closer, the artists are busy producing various comedies and satirical content targeting the festival of humour and satire.

Popular comedian Shiva Shankar Rijal, known as ‘Joginder Paanwala’ has released a new comedy piece titled ‘Thag-Thaag Company’ for the upcoming Gaijatra festival.  Generally, the ‘Gaijatra’ comedy is prepared to provide pure entertainment through humour and satire while generating awareness against social and other malpractices.

Rijal has been presenting regular satirical pieces for the past 22 years, and his latest work, ‘Thag-Thaag Company,’ has been released on the OSR YouTube channel recently.  The content satirizes current political events, social malpractices and even fashion and glamour.

The writing, direction, and presentation of ‘Thag-Thaag Koseli’ are all handled by Joginder himself, and it includes parodies.

This time, he has created a parody of the famous song ‘Kale Ketale,’ featuring portrayals of political figures such as Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, Rastriya Swatantra Party Chairman Rabi Lamichhane, Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, and Nepali Congress president  Sher Bahadur Deuba.

Rijal’s 'Thag-Thaag Company is the 22nd instalment of his series, following last year’s ‘Luchhachundi’.

The cast of ‘Thag-Thaag Company includes Radhika Hamal, Gopal Dhakal, Dinesh Kafle, Suresh Timilsena, Shila Upreti, Shivram Karki, Sonam Sherpa, Dhirendra Singh, Sabitri Lamichhane, Posana Shrestha, Bedmani Adhikari and Prem Sharma Paudel.

The post-production of ‘Thag-Thaag Company’ was done by Koche Media.

Rijal said that Gaijatra is a great festival for comedians, and like every year, he has brought out a Gaijatra satire piece.

He added that these offerings do not have commercial value, but every year, the audience eagerly await his work.

Due to the love from his audience, he has continued the tradition of Gaijatra comedy this year as well. He expressed confidence that the audience would appreciate his work this year too, just like every year.

Since 2061 BS, Rijal has been consistently bringing Gaijatra comedy to the market every year.

He believes that performing and presenting comedic and satirical programmes during Gaijatra is a duty of all comedians.

Currently, Rijal is preparing for the ‘Gaijatra’ programme to be held at the Nachaghar.

This year’s ‘Gaijatra’ festival falls on August 20.
