Gunyo Cholo to be released on October 25

By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, July 13: The release date of ‘Gunyo Cholo: Coming of Age of a Girl’ also known as ‘Gulabi’, has been announced.

The film with Najir Husen in the lead role will be released on October 25.

The production team unveiled the film’s poster on Thursday, featuring Najir in striking looks that encapsulate the film’s narrative.

 Najir, known for his transformative roles, underwent a significant physical transformation, losing 16 kg weight to do ‘Gulabi’.

In the poster, Najir appears in a yellow one-piece outfit, holding a wig and heels, with visible injury marks, symbolising his character’s journey.

 His portrayal includes transwoman aesthetics with nails, earrings, and full makeup, showcasing an impressive character transformation.

 Directed by Samundra Bhatt, the film delves into the story of transsexuality, with screenplay and dialogues also by Bhatt and Najir.

Produced under the banners of Vision Entertainment and The Sky Ocean Entertainment, the film underwent comprehensive post-production in Hollywood style, including editing, colour grading, sound design, and background music by Marcelo de Francisci.

 The movie features a diverse cast including Sanchita Luitel, Sushil Sitaula, Anupam Shrestha, and Bishal Pahari alongside Najir.

This groundbreaking Nepali film marks a collaboration between Nepali and Hollywood production houses, funded by Akash Budhathoki and V. Vansay Zanubon, with executive production by Jeffrey J. Waine and Steve Johnston, and co-produced by Anupam Shrestha. Alok Shukla has directed the cinematography while the lyrics are by Lekhu Sahayatri.
