Gurung’s ‘Son of the People’ released

By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, June 5:The English version of the book ‘Son of the People’, an autobiography written by former Chief of Army Staff Chharaman Gurung has been released in the capital.

 In a special ceremony held at Gurung’s private residence in Baluwatar, Kathmandu, the book was jointly released by the author, former Chief of Staff Gurung, former Lieutenant General of the Nepali Army Om Bahadur Pun, and the owner of Bhatbhateni Supermarket and social activist Min Bahadur Gurung.

At the release ceremony, businessman and philanthropist Min Bahadur Gurung said that the book successfully conveys the message that there are many possibilities in the country and that significant achievements can be made domestically.  He noted that with the publication of the English version, the book’s reach has expanded.

 Likewise, Everest Television President Nirmal Gurung congratulated writer Gurung for raising the community’s and the nation’s profile through hard work and honesty.

During the programme, Dr. Pratik Man Singh Gurung, the eldest son of Gurung, explained the rationale behind publishing the book in English.

 He expressed his belief that his father’s experiences would inspire the new generation of people and have a universal impact.

 Similarly, his younger son, Prabal Man Gurung, said that future generations can learn much from the book while recalling enjoyable and unforgettable moments with his father.

Chiran Jung Thapa, the English translator of the book, said he felt honoured to be part of the translation process and mentioned that readers can learn a great deal from the book. 

The Nepali version of the book, ‘Janataka Chhoro, was launched in 2016.
