Woman dies in elephant attack

Damak, March 30: A woman in Kamal Rural Municipality in Jhapa district died in an elephant attack last night.

Ward Chairman of Kamal Rural Municipality-5 Lal Bahadur Bista said Khadga Maya Limbu, 58, of Guheshwori Tole of the rural municipality died in the attack. 

The woman was attacked by the elephant at 11:50 last night when she attempted to escape after the tusker demolished the house of her neighbour Pabitra Begha.     

Ward Chairman Bista said Limbu died on the spot.

Seven people have been killed and seven others were injured due to attacks by wild elephants in Jhapa district this year, Information Officer at Division Forest Office Anjana Puri said. (RSS)
