By TRN Online, Kathmandu, Mar. 10: International relations (IR) experts have emphasised on proactive role on the part of Nepal to expedite the processes for implementing Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) projects in the country.
Sharing their views in the seminar entitled Safeguarding Nepal's national interest in changing geopolitics in South Asia organised by Friends of Silk Road-Nepal, the experts also highlighted on the need to reviewing progress on Nepal's trade diversification and implementation of the trade and transit agreement reached with China in 2016.
Nepal singed the Memorandum of Understanding of the BRI with China in 2017. However, there has been little progress toward the implementation of the MoU.
Altogether 10 experts shared their insights on three thematic sessions such as Rise of Powers: Balancing geopolitics by keeping Nepal at Center, Connectivity is Key: Nepal's role in Regional Connectivity, Exploring Opportunities: Water-Energy-Food nexus- of the seminar.
