Janakpurdham, March 10: Speakers at a programme held here on Saturday said that the development of family, society and nation is not possible without the all-round development of women.
In an interaction with the leaders
of the religious, social, educational and other fields related to gender
equality and women's leadership held in Lalgadh of Dhanusha under the auspices
of Dalit Mahila Kendra Nepal, they also expressed their commitment to support
the development of women from their respective fields.
On the occasion, religious leader
Durga Prasad Khanal said social development cannot be imagined without the
cooperation of men and women but in the past injustice has been done to women
due to lack of understanding. So now we religious leaders should move forward
and spread the real message.
Similarly, Pandit Bachukailash
Pokharel of Radhakrishna Temple in Dhalkebar expressed his commitment to spread
the fact that the religious scriptures do not discriminate between men and
women.
Similarly, Buddhist Haitya Singh
Gunjan mentioned that there is no discrimination between men and women in
Buddhism.
Ramkumar Mahato, the headmaster of
Mahendra Secondary School in Mithila Municipality-6, pointed out that a
supportive environment should be created from the home to remove the obstacles
that women are facing from moving forward.
Executive chairperson of the
Rastriya Samachar Samiti, Dharmendra Jha, said that women are still being
oppressed due to gender inequality, discrimination, and dowry system in Madhes
province and said that everyone should play a positive role against it. He said
that the leaders of the society should change their thinking to stop violence
against women based on custom, tradition and wrong religious values.
Likewise, Gaura Nepali, the
founding president of Dalit Mahila Kendra Nepal and Tejendra Lama, the
executive director of the organization, said the programme was organised the
aim of spreading awareness about the wrong aspects connected with anti-women
thinking, belief, custom-tradition and religion-practices and expressed the
confidence that in the future the participants will play a positive role in
