Koshi province to host Provincial Fine Arts Exhibition

By Our Correspondent,Itahari, Mar. 9: The Provincial Fine Arts Exhibition-2080 is set to take place in Itahari, Sunsari of Koshi Province from March 12 to 16.

Sanjay Bantawa Rai, the coordinator of the organising committee and a council member at the Nepal Academy of Fine Arts, said that the upcoming provincial fine arts exhibition is designed to showcase the talents of artists in the field of fine arts.

Speaking at a press meet organised in Itahari on Friday, Rai said that the exhibition would be organised by the Nepal Academy of Fine Arts, in collaboration with the Itahari Sub-metropolitan City and the local management of Itahari Metrics.

Rai mentioned that the provincial fine arts exhibition will feature paintings, sculptures, folk arts, handicrafts, object arts, as well as other 

creative art genres. 

"Among the artworks included in the exhibition based on the rules and standards of the establishment, certain artworks will be selected by a team of experts and sent to the National Fine Arts Competition," Rai added. 

Bikramshree, president of Itahari Metrics, who is in charge of the local management, informed that 147 artists have filled out the participation form for the provincial fine arts exhibition so far.

According to him, there are 121 paintings by 58 painters, 41 sculptures by 36 sculptors, 25 folk arts, 15 architectures, 12 photographs, 2 video arts, 2 performing arts, and 5 replacement arts. 

The organising committee has said that a budget of Rs. 3.5 million has been allocated for the exhibition.

They also expressed enthusiasm about the participation of artists from Koshi province, which ranks second in the country after Bagmati province in terms of fine arts.

Senior artist Bikramshree, co-convenor of the organising committee, expressed confidence that the exhibition will elevate Koshi Province’s standing in the national art scene. 

The committee hopes that this regional showcase will contribute to making Koshi province a prominent hub for fine arts in the country.
