Kajal Yadav wins poetry competition

By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Mar.9: Kajal Yadav, a student from Shree Baidyanath Devnaryan Janata Model Secondary School in Madhes Province, won the 5th National Level Poetry Competition, held to commemorate International Women’s Day on Friday. 

The competition, organised by the United Nations Development Programme, United Nations Refugee Commission Nepal, and Rastriya Banijya Bank, saw the participation of 160 students from government and public schools across all provinces.

 Seven provincial winners, including Kajal Yadav, expressed their aspirations for dignity, justice, and gender equality through their poetry at the national level competition.

 Sadikchya Poudel from Tarun Secondary School, Bagmati Province, and Usha Nepal from Bijaya Secondary School, Karnali Province, secured the second and third positions respectively.

The judging panel, comprised of Deputy Mayor of Lalitpur Metropolitan City Manjali Shakya Bajracharya, Actor Keki Adhikari, and Poet and Lyricist Upendra Subba, evaluated the poems based on technical skill, presentation, and alignment with the theme ‘Invest in Women: Accelerate Progress’.
