By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Mar. 5: The UAE chapter of Madhesi Ekta Samaj, an umbrella organisation of Madhesis living abroad, hosted a cultural Holi festival with grand fanfare in Dubai on Sunday.
Outgoing Minister for Labour, Employment and Social Security Sarat Singh Bhandari inaugurated the festival while Chairperson of Nepal’s Muslim Commission Samim Miyan Ansari and Deputy Chief of the Mission at the Embassy of Nepal in UAE were the special guests.
According to the founder of the organisation, Dr. Rabindra Kumar Yadav, since this year’s holy Ramdan of the Islamic calendar falls between March 9 to April 9, the Holi festival was celebrated on March 3. This year’s Holi falls on March 25.
NRNA Qatar president Ramesh Bhatta, NRNA UAE president Bikash Shahi, the embassy’s staffers, Samaj’s founder president Dr. Yadav, Samaj’s Nepal coordinator Dr. Bobby Singh Yadav, Samaj’s former presidents Mukesh Jha, Krishna Thakur and senior vice-president Ambika Sah graced the function chaired by its UAE president Dharmendra Gohibar Yadav.
On the occasion, several artists performed songs and dances, including songs and dances related to the Holi festival. Apart from these, delicious food items were other attractions. Popular singer Jagesh Thakur and dancer Niruta Sah fully entertained the audiences.
Similarly, Bola Paswan, Isha, Sheetal and Poonam, along with Nepali Boys Group, gave excellent performances.
Outgoing Minister Bhandari lauded the Madhesi Samaj for uniting all the Madhesis living abroad in a single thread. On the occasion, Bhandari sang a few lines of a traditional Holi song
Deputy Chief of Mission Bishal Bhattarai thanked the organisers for the beautiful function and congratulated all of them for this year’s Holi.
Samaj’s founder and coordinator of its international committee Dr. Yadav highlighted the risks of Nepali youths working in the Gulf countries. Dr. Yadav further said that the Madhesi Samaj was working for the welfare of the Nepali nationals living abroad as well as the wellbeing of Nepal. More than four hundred Nepali nationals living in the UAE attended the function.
On the occasion, Mukesh Jha, Deepak Kumar Yadav, Uttam Mishra, Vinesh Yadav, Kabindra Yadav, Ganesh Purbe and Jibachh Sah were been honoured for their contribution to their professional fields.
