By Our Correspondent,Beni, Feb. 28: On the occasion of the 42nd Magar Day, a cultural tableau was displayed in Beni, Mustang, featuring costumes reflecting the ethnic identity of the Magar community.
The youth of the Magar community, dressed in their traditional attire, performed the ‘Madale-
Maruni’ dance.
Men and women from both the youth and older generations of the Magar community participated in the cultural event.
A rally with participants adorned in traditional costumes, an exhibition, and performances of Sorathi, Kauda, and Salijo dances were organised, said Lokesh Punmagar, president of Nepal Magar Sangh Myagdi.
He emphasised that such cultural displays contribute to the preservation of the ethnic identity of the Magar community and enable cultural transmission to younger generations.
The rally in the market, showcasing ethnic costumes of the Magar community, paraded from Birendra Chowk in Beni to the district coordination committee hall, where it transitioned into a programme.
Member of the House of Representatives, Kham Bahadur Garbuja, inaugurated the event.
It is customary for the Magar community to celebrate February 27 (Falgun 15) as Magar Day by organising different programmes.
