Pra-kriti: Pratisthapan Art Exhibition on display

By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Feb. 16: The ‘Pra-kriti: Pratisthapan Art Exhibition’ began in collaboration between the Nepal Academy of Fine Arts and M Cube Gallery at the gallery of the academy on Thursday.

The exhibition was inaugurated by Jhapta Bahadur Saud, the Social Development Minister of Sudurpashchim Province.

The artworks of artists Sagar Manandhar, Sushila Singh, Mina Kayastha, Binay Rimal and Sushant Shree Rajbhandari were put on display.

Member Secretary of the Academy Devendra Kumar Kafle ‘Thumkeli’, highlighted the significance of the exhibition, particularly emphasising the importance of substitute art.

Saurganga Darshandhari, the council member of the academy, said that the exhibition of the created art would be held from February 15 to March 16 with a special emphasis on reconnecting with nature’s essence.

She said that the art exhibition aimed to demonstrate the interdependent relationship between nature and humanity.

Minister Jhapta Bahadur Saud expressed his appreciation as an art enthusiast, noting that this was his first encounter with such art.

He lamented the ongoing conflict between nature and humanity, citing instances of human-induced environmental destruction and subsequent natural disasters.

Minister Saud expressed optimism about promoting artistic endeavours in Sudurpashchim Province, emphasising its rich artistic heritage.

Chancellor Naradamani Hartmchhali described substitution art as a medium for conveying various emotions through diverse media.

He praised the artists’ adept portrayal of the relationship with nature through the utilisation of natural elements.

Hartmchhali suggested that contemporary issues such as social oppression should be addressed through art, as artists possess the ability to imbue ordinary objects with profound meaning and significance.
