By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Feb. 2: The 7th edition of the Nepal America International Film Festival (NAIFF) is scheduled to take place from June 20 to 23 in Maryland and Washington DC, USA.
The festival, organised by the Nepal America Film Society based in Maryland, has been an annual event since 2017.
The festival will showcase a variety of films, including narratives, documentaries, short films and animations.
The organisers accentuate a special focus on independent films from diverse regions, including Nepal, America, and South Asia.
In addition to featuring international films, the festival will highlight local talent through the ‘DMV Close-up,’ a section dedicated to filmmakers from Washington DC, Maryland and Virginia.
Collaborating with the ‘Global Peace Film Festival’ in Florida, the event aims to provide a platform for entertainment and knowledge exchange for both the audience and participants.
After conducting the previous two editions online due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the upcoming festival will see a return to in-person screenings.
“We fully embraced in-person events in 2023, and we are eager and hopeful to continue offering visitors a fully in-person lineup of exhibitions and events in 2024 as well,” said Yubakar Rajkarnikar, Festival Director.
NAIFF 2023, held from June 22–25 at AFI Silver Theatre and Cultural Centre, Old Greenbelt Theater, and Brentwood Arts Exchange, showcased industry panels, filmmaker conversations and in-person networking events.
