Rainfall forecast for few more days

Kathmandu, July 29: Monsoon rainfall is occurring across the country including Kathmandu Valley at present.

The rainfall across the majority of the places in the country is due to the partial effect of monsoon wind and the monsoon low-pressure trough that is south of its average position. 

According to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, rainfall is likely for two to three days in most of places in the country.

Meteorologist Binu Maharjan shared that light rainfall was recorded in Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini and Sudurpashim Provinces in the last hour while there is a possibility of heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning in Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, Gandaki Province today.     

At night, there are chances of heavy rainfall coupled with thunderstorms and lightning in some places of Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati and Lumbini Province.     

Monsoon this year entered Nepal on June 14 and it took nearly two weeks to spread across the country.     

From June 1 to July 21, 536.2 mm of rainfall has been recorded in the country which is 37 per cent of estimated monsoon rainfall. The average monsoon rain in the country is 1,462 mm, the Department said. (RSS)
