Farmers given mini tillers in subsidy

blog

By Our Correspondent,Parbat, June 23: Bihadi Rural Municipality of Parbat district has distributed mechanical ploughs to the farmers with a 50 per cent subsidy.

Mini tillers have been provided to guide farmers towards commercial and agricultural occupations through mechanisation.

Prabin Gurung, chairperson of the rural municipality, said that mini tillers (ploughs) have been distributed to 45 farmers. The ploughs have been distributed to the farmers with subsidies so that they feel easy to plough their fields.

According to him, distribution is based on demand to provide convenience to farmers through mechanization. Gurung said that due to lack of oxen and manpower for ploughing in the village, farmers' demand is for mechanical ploughs which were distributed. He said that the mechanical ploughs ran on diesel or petrol and needed less manpower, so that attraction of farmers had increased in this direction.

The land that can be ploughed in one day by oxen can be ploughed in two hours by a mechanical plough, he said.

Farmers have said that with the plough, it will be easier to plough the fields and save time. The rural municipality had allocated Rs. 1 million for the purchase of a mini tiller plough.

Jeevan Bahadur Shahi, chief of the agriculture branch of the rural municipality, informed that mini tiller ploughs were distributed to the farmers based on demand and needs.

He said that this programme would be effective in reducing the cost of production by combining agriculture with mechanization.
