Recent quake destroys four houses in Bajura

By Sher Bahadur Sarki,Bajura, Feb. 25: Four houses and a building of a Child Development Centre were destroyed by the earthquake of Wednesday in Bajura district. An earthquake measuring 5.2 in Richter scale had rattled Bajura at around 1:45 pm on Wednesday. 

The epicenter of the earthquake was the Bichhya area of Himali Rural Municipality.  One local, Kabir Bhandari, said that there was no human casualty as the tremor occurred in the daytime.  “Some of the houses which were weak and old have been damaged,” he said. 

The quake has again forced the locals of the village to stay outside under the tent and tarpaulins, said Bhandari. 

According to him, the earthquake has damaged a building of Child Development Centre, CDC, at Neta of Himali Rural Municipality-1 as well as the Bichhya Health Post. 

Information Technology Officer Sagar Rokaya said that four mud-made houses were completely damaged in the tremor.  

Earlier on January 24, an earthquake had hit Bajura, killing one woman and 36 animals. The quake had completely damaged 104 houses, while 509 other houses suffered partial damages and 463 minor damages.
