Kala Shree Awards presented

BY A STAFF REPORTER,Kathmandu. Feb. 24: Nepali Art And Literature Dot Com Foundation has honoured different dignitary personalities of the art and literature field amid a function in the capital city on Thursday. 

Senior artist Kiran Manandhar got Rastriya Kala Shree Honour for his outstanding contribution to the field of fine art. 

Likewise, literary critic Dr. Laxman Prasad Gautam, poet and essayist Bhupeen, TV journalist Dr. Tanka Uprety, photo journalist Jagadish Tiwari and popular singer Melina Rai were honoured with Rastriya Kala Shree Award, Sasiddhi Rastriya Kala Shree Youth Award, Badri Rastriya Kala Shree Journalism Award, Rastriya Kala Shree Fine Art Award and Padmanetra Rastriya Kala Shree Music Award respectively. 

It was mentioned that they were honoured for their significant contribution to their respective field. Gautam, Bhupeen and Tiwari got a purse of Rs. 100,000, Rs. 75,000 and Rs. 60,000 respectively with honour plaque while Upreti and Rai received Rs. 50,000 each.

 Senior poet and former chancellor  of Nepal Academy Bairagi Kainla handed over the awards. 

Young critic Mahesh Paudyal commented on the contribution of the honoured persons while consultant of the Foundation Dr. Bimal Koirala and vice-chairman Rajeshwore Karki spoke about the activities of the Foundation.

Chairperson of the Foundation Momila Joshi, who is also a popular poet, essayist as well as active literary worker, opined that the goal of the Foundation was only to honour the right persons and mention 

their contributions. 

'We go forward with academics and medium of expression simultaneously,' she said.

The Foundation, which has a motto 'harmony and creation for the upliftment of  language, literature, music, history, philosophy and culture', organises a literary tour in the different part of the country every year and abroad occasionally for the authours.
