Couples visiting Rani Mahal feted

By Our Correspondent,Palpa, Feb. 15: Couples who reached the historical palace 'Rani Mahal' in Palpa district on the occasion of the Valentine's Day on Tuesday were honoured. 

According to Tansen Municipality, couples who visited the historic palace on Valentine's Day were welcomed and honoured with  the intention of establishing importance and branding of Rani Mahal. 

Tansen Municipality has made a programme to honour the love couple on the Valentine’s Day  to spread the word about Rani Mahal, which is a symbol of love. 

Yadav Singh Karki, spokesman for Tansen Municipality, informed that the couples, who reached Rani Mahal on Tuesday wished success of their love life.

Khadga Shumsher Jung Bahadur Rana had built the Rani Mahal 129 years ago in memory of his queen Tejkumari in an area of 11 ropanis of land. 

Thus, Rani Mahal is also considered as a 'symbol of love'.

Tansen Municipality, NATTA Lumbini and NATTA Palpa Chapter jointly organised the programme and gifted coins and rose to the visiting couples. 

Likewise, NATTA Palpa Chapter President Rajeev Shah informed that the couples also participated in a cultural programme.

Lumbini Provincial Assembly member Bir Bahadur Rana said that sharing love would help improve mutual relations and inspire to get rid of stress.

 He believed that exchanging love would help maintain peace in the world.

 Santosh Lal Shrestha, Mayor of Tansen Municipality, said that the programme was organised to attract domestic and foreign tourists to Rani Mahal.

 He said that the municipality was taking initiatives to establish Rani Mahal as a major tourist destination in Nepal.

Hari Adhikari of Pokhara, who arrived with his wife to exchange love at Rani Mahal, said that he was happy to exchange love at a place of historical importance.

 "Rani Mahal itself is a beautiful, peaceful and historical palace," he said. He said that seeing the palace inspired him to deepen his love with his spouse. More than 25 love couples who reached Rani Mahal promised to strengthen their relationship.
