Karki, Chaudhary named best at Golden Athletics Meet

By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Feb. 7: Tejbahadur Karki of Nepal Police Club and Nisha Chaudhary of Dang was named best athletics players at the Golden Athletics Meet held at the track and field of the Dasarath Stadium on Monday.

At the meet organized by Athletics Pariwar Nepal, Sanjib Nepali of APF Club won the men’s 5000m race. He took 15:53.03 minutes to finish the race at the front. Santoshi Shrestha of Dhadhing won the women’s 5000m race with a time of 17:37 minutes. 

Shiva Raj Parki clocked 22:37 seconds to win the men’s 200m race. Nisha timed 25:72 seconds to kiss the gold medal in women’s 200m. 

Tejbahadur Karki of Police and Phulmati Rana of APF claimed 800m gold in men’s and women’s categories respectively. 

Salim Dewan’s of APF and Sima Chaudhary of Police won the men’s and women’s triple jump.  

Ramesh Pokhrel of APF took the gold in the men’s javelin throw. Chandrakala Lamgade became the champion in the women’s category. 

In the shotput, Puskal Khadka of Police and Lamgade grabbed the gold medal in the men's and women’s categories. 

APF dominated the 4x400m mixed relay while Lumbini and Nepal Police trailed at second and third place respectively. 

A total of 300 players took part in the event.
