Three girls found hanging in a tree in Jhapa

Jhapa, July 24: Three girls have been found hanging in a tree at Kachanakawal Rural Municipality in the bordering Jhapa district today. The incident site is inside a tea garden in Pathamari rural municipality-5. 

The deceased have been identified as local Anjali Ganesh, 17, Karina Ganesh, 16, and Kalpana Ganesh, 16. The incident might have been a mass suicide, according to the preliminary investigations of the police.   

The deceased, who worked at the tea garden named Sunkoshi Tea Garden, had gone missing since Saturday noon, said Deputy Superintendent of Police Basanta Pathak, spokesperson for the district police office. Local people reported the incident to police shortly after seeing the girls hanging in the tree. A police team had been deployed at the incident site and investigations were underway, said DSP Pathak.  (RSS)
