Saptari’s unique Juice House gaining popularity

Kalyanpur, July 24: The first Juice House designed in a traditional way in Rajbiraj, Saptari, has gained popularity among the locals. The Juice House with a slogan of ‘Pure and Healthy Drinking Habit’ decorated with Mithila handicraft and paintings has won the hearts of the people in a short period of time, said Rina Mukhiya, owner of the house. Customers are thronging her shop in a growing number, she added. 

These days, many customers, in an effort to beat the punitive heat drinking cold drinks, are seen filling the house. It has been in operation since May 29, with daily earnings of Rs. 7,000-8000 a day, she said.  Inside the house is a book section for those who want to read books while having their drinks.  

Than Singh Bansali, social worker, said that the juice house operated by Mukiya family has been serving a fresh juice to the customers and that since it is the first such house in the district, the house has set an example for many. 

Recalling the story behind starting the business, Mukhiya said that she could not find fresh juice in the market while she was pregnant four years ago. Her doctor had advised her to drink fresh juice but none of the shop sold fresh juice at that time. She was worried for pregnant women lacking the nutrition, which lead her to start selling fresh juice, she said.

Even though she decided to start the business four years ago, it could not translate into reality due to COVID-19 pandemic and subsequent restrictions. At present, the shop, flooded with customers, is seen doing brisk business. 

Mukiya said that she has a full support of her husband, Suresh Mukhiya, to run the business. He assists her in supplying fruits to the house and in other outdoor activities. Her husband works as a script writer for Maithili films as well as a photographer.
