Nepali Army has performed pre-exercise for monsoon preparedness and rescue operation in the Kamala River of Karjanha Municipality-2 of Siraha district in Madhes Province with a purpose to reduce the risk of flood during the monsoon. In the presence of Chief Minister Lal Babu Raut, the trained manpower of the Nepali Army performed the monsoon rescue and operation drill in the river. CM Raut inaugurated the three-day Province-Level Integrated Disaster Management Exercise named ‘Exercise Hatemalo’ on Saturday amid a function.
The people of Char Tange, Simkot Rural Municipality–7, no longer have to risk their lives when crossing the Bagle Hekpa River during the monsoon thanks to a newly-constructed suspension bridge. Crossing the bridge on Monday, Ward Chairman Balbari Shahi said that bridge had made crossing the river easy for the locals. Recalling how people feared crossing the rickety wooden bridge over the river in the past, he rejoiced that everyone would now be able to move freely, even during the rainy season.
A mentally unwell woman who had left home has given birth to a child in Baitadi. It has not yet been found that who had raped the woman of Melauli in Baitadi. The District Public Health Office in Baitadi has taken the woman and the baby for treatment. Yogesh Prasad Bhatta, chief of the health office in Baitadi, said that five women were rescued from Baitadi on Friday and sent to Dhangadhi for treatment after the mentally-ill women started giving birth to babies.

Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC) has started importing aviation fuel from Barauni instead of Raxaul after the Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) showed concern about the security situation. Spokesperson of NOC Binit Mani Upadhyay said that import of aviation turbine fuel (ATF) from Barauni depot has started after the IOC repeatedly pressured the Corporation to stop import of aviation fuel from Raxaul depot of India.
The physical and biological embankment constructed to control streams and gullies in the Chure area is becoming effective under the Chure conservation campaign with the original slogan of "Chure's soil to Chure, clean water to all". After the construction of the embankment around the streams of the Chure area, the ballast, sand and soil that flowed away with the rain have been retained in the area. Similarly, Chure conservation experts agreed that groundwater reserves are also increasing.
Top Bahadur Magar, chairman of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), said that human rights of employees working in entertainment and hospitality sectors should be protected because all people have rights to work freely with dignity in any sector. Speaking at the second national conference of employees working in the entertainment and hospitality sectors held in Kathmandu on Monday, chairman Magar said that separate law should be enacted to safeguard the rights of employees working in the entertainment and hospitality sectors.
The Nepali Congress has called the meeting of the office bearers of the party’s Central Working Committee for Monday. NC chief secretary Krishna Prasad Paudel on Monday informed that the meeting would be held at 1pm tomorrow. The meeting is called to discuss the agendas of the upcoming CWC meeting. The party has called its CWC meeting for July 11. The agenda of the meeting include the review of local level election and other issues.
Nepal’s advertising sector is now poised to become more responsible and dignified with the implementation of the much-anticipated code of conduct on advertisement production, distribution, publication and broadcast. The guideline has been prepared by the Advertising Board as per the provisions mentioned in the Advertisement (Regulation) Act, 2075 BS. The comprehensive code includes 13 sections. This is a historic guideline being enforced in the country. In the past, only a few topics concerning advertisement were incorporated in media-related laws

The Department of Transportation Management (DoTM) on June 3 issued a notice making embossed number plates (ENPs) on all types of vehicles mandatory effective from July 17, failing which the vehicle owners would be subject to penalties as stipulated in the Motor Vehicles and Transport Management Act 1993. In accordance with the act, those who fail to install ENPs on their vehicles will be fined an amount ranging from Rs. 5,000 to Rs. 15,000, will have their vehicles confiscated and will be sentenced to one year in jail. The penalties are very harsh, to say the least.

French film director Alan Simon is now in Nepal to look for shooting locations. A French film Digbi is being shot in Nepal. Organising a press conference in the capital on Sunday, Director Simon informed that he and his team are going to make a film on the Sarangi player of Nepal. The film, which has a 35-day shooting schedule in Nepal, will also feature Nepali actors, informed Simon.
