Eid boosts national unity: President

By A Staff Reporter, Kathmandu, May 28: President Ramchandra Paudel has extended his heartfelt greetings to Nepalis at home and abroad on the occasion of Eid-ul-Adha (Bakra Eid) 2026, wishing peace, prosperity and happiness to all.

In a message issued on Wednesday, the President said that the festival of the Muslim community would further strengthen emotional ties with the motherland and contribute to national prosperity and development.

President Paudel noted that the Muslim community celebrates Eid-ul-Adha by forgetting resentment, conflict and ill feelings, while exchanging happiness, goodwill and greetings with one another. He said devotees also gather at open grounds, Eidgahs and mosques to offer Eid prayers and celebrate the festival with enthusiasm.

The President stated that festivals carrying the message of faith, devotion and social service help promote harmony, tolerance, reconciliation, unity, brotherhood and coexistence among Nepalis living in different parts of the world despite religious and cultural diversity. He expressed confidence that such occasions would also support the preservation, promotion and development of unique cultural traditions.

Stressing the importance of unity in diversity, President Paudel said that mutual brotherhood and equality further deepen the national spirit and social harmony.

President Paudel expressed the hope that Eid-ul-Adha would inspire all Nepalis to strengthen the values of love, compassion, sacrifice, tolerance, goodwill and national unity.

Similarly, Vice President Ramsahay Prasad Yadav has extended best wishes to the Muslim community in Nepal and abroad on the occasion of Eid-ul-Adha (Bakra Eid) 2026.

In a message issued on Thursday, Vice President Yadav wished for peace, prosperity, good health and continued progress for all Muslims celebrating the festival. He said Eid-ul-Adha, observed as a symbol of sacrifice, devotion and dedication, promotes sympathy, cooperation, brotherhood and social harmony in society.

He expressed confidence that the festival would encourage support for the underprivileged and strengthen the values of social justice and equality. He also noted that the festival highlights the importance of collective spirit, cooperation and humanity.
