Army performs monsoon disaster rescue drill

By A Staff Reporter Kathmandu, July 5: Nepali Army has performed  pre-exercise for monsoon preparedness and rescue operation in the Kamala River of Karjanha Municipality-2 of Siraha district in Madhes Province with a purpose to reduce the risk of flood during the monsoon.

In the presence of Chief Minister Lal Babu Raut, the trained manpower of the Nepali Army performed the monsoon rescue and operation drill in the river. 

CM Raut inaugurated the three-day Province-Level Integrated Disaster Management Exercise named ‘Exercise Hatemalo’ on Saturday amid a function. 

The exercise includes water-based rescue and heli-evacuation based on rope and basket. 

Delivering a welcome remark, Brigadier General and No. 27 Brigade Chief Bharat Chandra Gurung, said that the Nepali Army in coordination with the Province government is dedicated to establish one permanent 

mechanism to minimise damages to life and property in the Madhes Province.  

Gurung thanked the Province government for its support in conducting such an integrated and 

successful exercise and presented letters of appreciation to the participants.
