Three new electric buses of the Sajha Yatayat have begun their trial services in the Kathmandu Valley since Thursday. Initailly, three buses will be in operation in the valley’s roads as a trial service. The other remaining 37 buses will arrive in Kathmandu by mid-August, according to a statement issued by Sajha Yatayat Sahakari Sanstha Limited. Bishwabandhu Thapa, 95, founder of Sajha Yatayat, inaugurated the soft launch of the trial service on Thursday.

Locals of Adanchuli Rural Municipality in Humla district have been crossing the mighty Karnali River by means of a tuin, a traditional wire bridge, for the past five years. "We are still using the tuin to cross the river even if it is unsafe because we have no other option," said Junraj Mahatara, a local from Ward No. 1 of Adanchuli. The tuin is being used in Domukha, an area along the Karnali River separating Humla and Mugu districts. The tuin was constructed after the locals' request for a suspension bridge there continued falling on deaf ears.
A 132 kV double-circuit transmission line has come into operation from Yogikuti (Butwal) to Mainhiya to improve power supply and control technical leakage in Bhairahawa area of Rupandehi district. Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) has brought 18km Butwal-Lumbini transmission line from Butwal substation to Mainhiya substation into operation by flowing electricity since Wednesday.

Minister for Finance Janardan Sharma has resigned after the formation of a parliamentary special probe committee that will look into the alleged entry of an unauthorised outsider into the Budget and Programme Division of the ministry during the formulation of the budget for the fiscal year 20022/23. Over the past couple of weeks, Sharma had been facing tremendous pressure from different sections of the society with the dissemination of some media reports that tax rates in the budget were manipulated with the involvement of that unauthorised person. The main opposition CPN-UML had raised the issue in the federal parliament, accusing Sharma of using the unknown person in the budget preparation process.
