Bollywood actor-producer Akshay Kumar, who was last seen in YRF’s Samrat Prithviraj, was recently asked if he has any ambitions of joining politics, but the actor said that he is “very happy” making movies. Akshay will next be seen in director Aanand L Rai’s Raksha Bandhan. Talking about joining politics, Akshay said, “I am very happy making films. Farmer Bishnu Lal Gautam, a resident of Kamalamai Municipality-2, Bhadrakali, reached Sindhulimadhi, the district headquarters, on Monday in search of chemical fertiliser. Farmer Gautam, who is preparing to plant paddy after harvesting maize, said that he has come to the district headquarters looking for chemical fertiliser. He said, "I am preparing to plant paddy in my 10 kattha land. Chemical fertiliser could not be applied even to maize. However, I have come looking for fertiliser to use for paddy. But I didn't find it anywhere."

A solar mini-grid has started generating electricity in Yari, in the north of Namkha Rural Municipality-5. The area is still out of reach of electricity delivered through national grid. The generation of electricity has started after the installation of solar panels at the place where the mini grid is installed. District Advisor Birendra Thapa said that the mini-grid has generated 50 kilowatts of electricity in the third phase of the Rural Water Resources Management Project.
Risk of flood has increased in Tilathi Koiladi Municipality in Saptari district as the Khado River has started eroding the embankments with the onset of the monsoon rains. Works to control the Khado River in Saptari, which started seven years ago, has not been completed yet. The embankment constructed along the side of the river is being eroded even by the rain water itself.

With the increase of educational institutions in Nepal, there is now a rapid group of educated youth keen on getting employed. At the same time there is also a trend among some youth who have been educated in other countries, especially in the Western countries, of returning back after education with the hope of doing something worthwhile. Although the brain drain from Nepal is a reality, there is a group of youth who have chosen to return and work here. There are examples of Nepali experts in different sectors, including engineering, medicine, information technology and media, among others, who have excelled in their fields abroad and have decided to return to their country in middle age or retirement age to invest and to start successful entrepreneurial activities.

The annual census conducted by Bird Conservation Nepal (BCN) has shown that the number of birds has been declining over the past few years. The organisation has been conducting counts and inspecting the nests of these rare Finn’s weaver birds every year to understand their condition in Nepal.

Dubbing of Meelan, which is scheduled to be released in the first week of Nepali month Kartik (third week of October), has been concluded. The production team has stated that the entire dubbing work of the film, which was shot six months ago, has been completed. Kushal Shah Thakuri, Salon Basnet, Shilpa Thapa, Shishir Bangdel, Bishal Pahadi, Januka Poudel (Pyakuli) do the lead roles in the movie.
Families went bananas for Minions this weekend at the movie theater. “ Minions: The Rise of Gru ” brought in an estimated $108.5 million in ticket sales from 4,391 screens in North America, Universal Pictures said Sunday. By the end of the Monday’s July Fourth holiday, it will likely have earned over $127.9 million. The film is on track to become one of the biggest openings ever for a July Fourth holiday weekend, a record previously held by “Transformers: Dark of the Moon” which made $115.9 million in its first four days in 2011. Including international showings, where “Minions: The Rise of Gru” is playing in 61 markets, its worldwide gross is sitting at $202.2 million through Sunday.
