Safeguarding of republic achievements stressed

Kathmandu, May 29: Chairperson of the CPN (UML), KP Sharma Oli has stressed on safeguarding of achievements of the republic. 

In a message of best wishes on the occasion of the Republic Day today, Chair Oli opined that running the state through democratic institutions and structures is the significant achievement of the republic.

He described presence of local governments, expansion of citizens' access to state resources, increase in representation of women, Dalit, Madhes and backward communities, civil liberties, digital access to services and road-communication expansion are key achievements of the republic. 

Nepali people had to struggle for more than seven decades to achieve republic rights, Chair Oli underlined, recalling  thousands of seniors had to sacrifice their lives, many had to stay in prison for long, torture to get freedom of speech and expression, the message reads.  (RSS)
