Kathmandu, May 29: Nepali Congress (NC) President Gagan Thapa has said that Nepal could be transformed into an inclusive, dignified, happy and prosperous nation through institutional improvements of the federal democratic republic governance system.
In a message delivered on the Republic Day today, he expressed the confidence that the day would isntill new enthusiasm and inspiration among all Nepali in the shared journey of a just and equity-based society enabled with democratic values, norms and culture.
He recalled the historical proclamation of transforming Nepal to the federal democratic republic from the first meeting of the epochal Constituent Assembly following the 2006 People's Uprising as an outcome of the struggle and devotion of the Nepali people.
Likewise, NC parliamentary party leader, Bhishma Raj Angdembe while defining republic as a symbol of the sovereign rights of the Nepali people asserted that it has no alternative. (RSS)
