Minister Shrestha issues 32-point directives for reform in energy, water resource sector

By TRN Online, Kathmandu, April 16: Minister for Energy, Water Resource and Irrigation Biraj Bhakta Shrestha has issued a 32-point directives for structural reform, transparency and result oriented performance in energy and water resource sector.

The minister issued the instructions amidst a programme in the Ministry today and asked concerned agencies to move forward works to complete them in the given timeframe.

The action plan incorporates multidimensional matters including reform of energy market and strengthening of the irrigation system.

"I asked all to bring in result in the given time," said the Minister, reminding all that those failing to perform their duties effectively will face action.

Open access and tariff review in energy sector

The Minister has asked the electricity regulatory commission to determine necessary billing charge for open access system within 30 days.

Solution to PPA dispute and strict control over license

Nepal Electricity Authority is asked to make a list of dispute over PPA along with viable solution while the electricity development authority is instructed to make public the details of license and survey of all hydro projects across the country within 60 days.
