Nepal welcomes over 105,000 foreign tourists in February

Kathmandu, Mar. 4: Nepal’s tourism industry continued its strong upward trajectory in February 2026, welcoming over 105,400 international tourists---marking a significant milestone in the country’s post-pandemic recovery.

According to the Nepal Tourism Board (NTB), a total of 105,441 international visitors entered Nepal in the month of February, 2026.

This is 8.8 per cent higher than the tourist arrival during the same month of last year 2025. A total of 96,880 foreign tourists visited Nepal in February 2025.

The tourist arrival in the month of February 2026 is 2.9 per cent higher than the pre-pandemic level recorded in February 2019, according to NTB.

A total of 102,423 international tourists visited Nepal in the month of February 2019.

Nepal welcomed a total of 92,573 international tourists in the month of January 2026.

The performance of tourist arrival from the beginning of 2026 reflects sustained global confidence in Nepal as a premier travel destination and reinforces our commitment to positioning Nepal as a Lifetime Experience Destination.

Tourism entrepreneurs view the continued recovery beyond pre-pandemic benchmarks as a positive indicator for the upcoming peak tourism seasons.

Nepal’s tourism sector witnessed a remarkable resurgence in international visitor arrivals in 2025 as well.

According to NTB, Nepal welcomed over 1.158 million tourists in 2025, marking a significant recovery and growth of nearly 9 per cent compared to the previous year.

A total of 1,147,548 foreign tourists visited Nepal in 2024.

India leads top source markets

India remained Nepal’s largest source market, contributing 22,745 visitors of total arrivals in the month of February this year.

Similarly, a total of 10,816 tourists have come from China while 9,710 tourists from United States of America, 7,515 tourists from Sri-Lanka have visited Nepal, according to the NTB.

Similarly, a total of 6,035 tourists from Myanmar, 5,618 tourists from United Kingdom, 4,126 tourists from Australia, 3,638 tourists from Thailand, 3,212 tourists from Bangladesh and 2,850 tourists from Germany visited Nepal.

The share of India in the total tourist arrival in the month of February is 21.6 per cent while the share of China 10.3 per cent, USA 9.2 per cent, Sri-Lanka 7.1 per cent and Myanmar 5.7 per cent.

Region-wise, share of tourist from Asia (SAARC) stood at 33.5 per cent (35,348 people), Asia (others) at 28.3 per cent (29,857 people), Europe at 16.6 per cent (17,493 people), Americas at 11.2 per cent (11,815 people) Oceania at 1.6 per cent (1,680 people), Middle East at 0.9 per cent (949 people), Africa at 0.3 per cent (344 people) and others at 7.5 per cent (7,955 people) in the review month.
