By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Feb. 10: The Nepal Multiple Indicator Cluster Survey (NMICS) 2024-25 has revealed significant progress in household access to essential services, with most households now have access to electricity and telecommunication services.
According to the survey findings made public by the National Statistics Office (NSO) on Monday, 96.7 per cent of households across the country have access to a continuous source of electricity.
At the provincial level, Gandaki Province leads with 99.5 per cent coverage, while Karnali Province lags behind with only 80.8 per cent of households connected to the power grid.
Bagmati Province leads in telecommunication access, with 97.1 per cent of households connected, while Sudurpashchim Province records the lowest access at 92.6 per cent.
Four out of every five (82 per cent) households were found to use a device with internet access.
Among women aged 15-49, 81.6 per cent own their own mobile phone, and 72.7 per cent of women have used a mobile phone in the past three months.
Similarly, among men aged 15-49, 90.4 per cent of men own their own mobile phone, and 78.7 per cent of men have used a mobile phone in the past three months.
