Kathmandu, Jan 6: Chief of Madhes Province Surendra Labh called on Prime Minister Sushila Karki at the latter's official residence in Baluwatar today and discussed various contemporary issues.
During the meeting, Prime Minister Karki praised Province Chief Labh for playing an effective role as a guardian in resolving the political problems of the province. She also urged him to play a similar role in resolving the social problems seen in Madhes in recent days, according to the Prime Minister's Secretariat.
Considering the upcoming House of Representatives elections to be held on March 5, Prime Minister Karki was of the opinion that one should be alert to possible challenges that may arise.
“The country is now completely focused on the election,” she said, "Hence, all sides should play a role in maintaining peace, harmony and tolerance in the society." All the mechanisms of the state should be mobilized to create an environment conducive for the elections.
Province Chief Labh shared that he is making efforts on his part to maintain peace and order in the province and that security and administrative mechanisms have been mobilized.(RSS)
