Janakpurdham, Jan 4: Minister for Education, Science and Technology, Mahabir Pun, has expressed worry over Madhes Province lagging behind education.
In a programme organized here for the preparation of declaring the literate province, Minister Pun viewed although Madhes Province was ahead in educational status, it has lost such status. The event was organized by the federal and provincial ministries
"Madhes Province is ahead in economic, social and political frontiers, but its education sector is awaiting urgent improvement. It is essential to study why this province is behind others," he observed, adding that all three-tiers of government need to work in unison for sustainable development of education. He further reminded it is sheer backwardness to not have all people literate when we are living in the age is of technology.
Similarly, Minister for Education and Culture in Madhes Province, Rani Sharma Tiwari, admitted that Madhes is the most backward province in educational attainment. The province government is forwarding its activities with proper plans in place to improve education. For the sustainable development of education, collaborative efforts between the government and the non-government sector are imperative, according to her.
Madhes Province Assembly member Anjana Pandit underscored the need of ensuring quality education with the participation of all three-tiers of government.(RSS)
