By Nirajan Pariyar, Kailali, Jan 4: Sudur Paschim province has stated that women voters are in a higher number than male voters.
The voters’ list for the House of Representatives (HoR) election slated for March 5 illustrates that women voters outnumber men voters in the province.
Based on the updated voter records of the Election Commission, the province has 864,423 women voters and 852,219 male voters, said Prem Raj Bhatta, Chief of the Provincial Election office. The voters’ list include 18 voters under the ‘other’ category. Women voters exceed male voters by 12,402.
The province has announced a total of 1,716,60 voters for the House of Representatives election. During the 2079 BS election, the province had 1,669,411 voters. The Provincial Election Office reported an increase of 47,249 voters in the updated list.
According to the statistics released by the Election Office for the election of the members of the House of Representatives 2082, Kailali has 551,052 voters, Kanchanpur has 314,385, Baitadi has 156,372 and Darchula has 92,948 voters.
Similarly, Dadeldhura has 93,403 voters, Bajhang has 126,903, Achham has 165,337, Doti has 128,399 and Bajura has 86,961 voters, the Provincial Election Office stated.
Authorities have designated 1,176 polling stations and 2, 199 polling centres in the province.
