Siraha, Dec 16: The Lahan Municipality has distributed physical materials to community schools within the municipality with the aim of improving the quality of education and providing students with a suitable educational environment.
In this connection, the municipality also distributed complaint boxes to make the school administration more accountable, along with a total of 330 new desks and benches.
Mayor Mahesh Prasad Chaudhary handed over the materials to the principals of the community schools amidst a programme here today. According to Mayor Chaudhary, the municipality had allocated a budget of Rs 3 million for this purpose.
Chaudhary said, "Overall educational improvement is not possible without improving community schools."
According to him, 300 desks and benches were distributed in the previous fiscal year, and a budget arrangement has been made to provide students with notebooks and pens from the upcoming academic session.
In addition, under the 'Learn and Earn Programme', Rs 2 million has been allocated to Pashupati Adarsha Secondary School. The procurement process has been initiated to distribute 36 smart boards.
Regarding physical infrastructure support, the Municipality has stated that four-room buildings have been completed at Lakshman Lalita Kushwaha Secondary School, Pardariya Tharutol Secondary School, Lekhnath Secondary School, and classroom blocks will be gradually constructed in other schools as needed.
The Municipality has also prepared to run free tuition classes targeting Dalit and Mushar students.
The Head Teacher of Padariya Tharutol Secondary School, Manoj Yadav, expressed his belief that this support by the municipality will help improve the educational and physical environment of the school.
There are a total of 61 community schools in the Lahan municipal area.(RSS)
