Surkhet, Oct 24: At a time when the most parts of the country were celebrating the Tihar festival, a local level conducted annual school exams in the upper Dolpa.
Shey Phoksundo rural municipality located in the upper Dolpa conducted final exams in the schools as per the academic calendar in the district. Due to winter season that is too hostile in the upper belt, the local level is bound to hold the annual exams before November 1. The schools in the concerned local level then announce winter vacation, according to Pema Wangchhen Gurung, a coordinator of education committee in the rural municipality.
The schools were asked to conduct the final exams from mid-October to November 1.
The upper region of the district witnesses severe cold and snowfall from mid-October. So, the exam was held despite Tihar festival, said Nabin Shahi, a teacher at Tashi Sambho Basic School at Shey Phoksundo-7. "We celebrated Tihar with students this time. All schools held the exams as per local government's direction," he shared.
