Birgunj (Parsa), Oct 12: The anti-cholera vaccination drive has been launched in Parsa from today. The campaign was initiated by administering medicine to Chief District Officer Toya Narayan Subedi.
Chief of Child health and Immunization Service Section, Dr Abhiyan Gautam, requested to administer the anti-cholera medicine to all Parsa folks above one year as Parsa had saw cholera outbreak and it is still at high-risk of cholera due to inundation after the recent rainfall.
He asked one and all to take the oral medicine without any doubt, making special request to the citizens to keep their surrounding clean as well as to drink pure water.
Similarly, Dr Manoj Kumar Gupta of Narayani Hospital, Birgunj, called all the general people to support the campaign by taking anti-cholera medicine as the medicine has no any serious side effect.
The medicine would have significant role to reduce cholera infection seen in the district and protect the people from it.
The cholera infection was detected in Parsa in mid-August. Public Health Officer at the Health Office, Jayamod Thakur shared that a target has been set to administer anti-cholera medicine to around 645,000 people in Parsa.
The campaign will run till October 19.(RSS)
